Elizabeth Richard is an Executive-in-Residence at the The Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard (LISH), established to spur the development of innovation by solving real-world innovation challenges and conducting rigorous scientific research and analysis. Independently and in conjunction with LISH team members, Elizabeth offers comprehensive workshops and consulting services drawn from decades of experience in practicing and researching a variety of open innovation (OI) approaches in the private, public and non-profit sectors.  The LISH team is uniquely positioned to help organizations understand how OI can be integrated with their own innovation processes, and to accelerate learning, piloting, scaling, and sustaining OI programs that deliver results. 


  • Co-authored publications on open innovation and delivered presentations and interactive sessions for a Harvard Executive Education leadership course, MBA program, and the Laboratory for Innovation Sciences Crowd Academy on scaling and sustaining open innovation and crowdsourcing.
  • Organized workshops and webcasts for the Game Changer Innovation Network, a proprietary forum of leading organizations that enables members to collaborate around emerging technologies, external innovation opportunities, and approaches to accelerating innovation in their organizations.  Conducted exercise on cross over technology needs, and delivered presentations on emerging innovation trends, collaborative innovation and cultural change management, and accelerating innovation.
  • Delivered two-day workshop for Hero MotoCorp leadership team and workforce on Open Innovation and Crowdsourcing with Laboratory of Innovation Science at Harvard collaborators. Designed and conducted interactive innovation strategy exercise, and delivered presentations on aligning innovation and business strategies, cultural change management and the NASA open innovation journey.
  • ​Conducted workshop on Open Innovation and Crowdsourcing for Goodyear leadership team with Laboratory of Innovation Science at Harvard collaborators.
  • ​Designed and facilitated a strategy session for the Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation, whose mission is to advance and share best practices in open innovation across U.S. federal agencies.
